 What does Holland & Hart look for in a summer associate?
While academic performance is important, we are looking for a balance of intellectual capability and effective interpersonal skills. We look for well-rounded individuals who display motivation, maturity, creativity, and independence.

 How many summer associates does Holland & Hart hire?
In any given summer, the Denver office will hire between 6-12 summer associates, depending on the needs of the firm. Our regional offices assess their needs for summer associates and entry level associates on an annual basis.

 Can first year law students apply for the summer program?
We do not accept applications from 1L's. However, the Denver office does participate in the Colorado Pledge to Diversity Group's 1L Summer Clerkship program with the University of Denver and the University of Colorado.

 What type of work does a summer associate do?
Summer associates are hired based on the needs of our practice groups, ensuring that a variety of projects are available. While much of the work consists of research and writing, associates get involved in a variety of legal projects, including working closely with lawyers in proceedings or in client meetings. Summer associates tradionally participate in pro bono work as well.

 Do summer associates have mentors?
Associate supervisors monitor their associates' workloads and generally assist them in their assimilation into the firm. Summer associates are also assigned an associate buddy and a partner mentor.

 What kind of training is offered summer associates?
In addition to on the job training and mentoring, summer associates are invited to attend Department meetings, practice group meetings and any of the in-house training events scheduled during the summer for associates. They also meet as a group for weekly lunch programs on topics ranging from substantive law to law firm life. Summer associates are also invited to choose from a wide variety of computer training programs offered by Holland and Hart University.

Currently, our Denver summer associates earn a weekly salary of $2,307.
